Another of the increasingly hard to keep track of Texas “band wagon” whiskies. This once claims to be “double barreled and bottled in Austin”. I admit that is slightly better than just sticking the word “Texas” on label as many do, and these guys do distill other spirits and plan to produce their own bourbon, but compared to Dan Garrison, Chip Balcones or the boys at Ranger Creek this as about as close to Texas whiskey as the 2014 Houston Astros are to being a major league baseball dynasty. The nose is quite dry, even winey, to the point of woody. Definitely get sense this nose is all about the wood rather than the spirit. With time I did get a little sweetcorn in the nose as well. The taste is smooth and quite light, vanilla, butter, milk chocolate and then some spice builds into a dry finish along white pepper and rye. This one misses the mark for me, but perhaps they will do better when they make their own juice.
