This is my 300th review on this website so what could be more appropriate than a rum review! Actually this is not just a rum, this is very special product indeed. Made in the Domincan Republic I tried this at the SMWS Extravaganza in Houston in 2012 and noted it might have been my favorite dram that evening! Unusually for a rum it matured in european sherry casks rather than US bourbon and that really comes through in the rich fruity taste. The nose is fruity with vanilla and some spice. The taste is very smooth and rich, caramel sweetness, more fruit like plums and dired fruit. Jammy and delicious the sherry influence is beautifully balanced by sweet rum notes. The finish is dry, as you would expect, but doesn't have the peppery notes you find in whisky, but rather a delicious cinnamon finish instead.
