I first tried this blended malt at WhiskyLive London in 2011, but it was at the end of the day and my palatte was "dead" to put it mildy as even this "peat freak" failed to make an impression. A blend of several Islay malts the nose is very predictable with kippers, smoked salmon and of course peat. The taste has young, grainy spirit notes, lemon and caramel, the peat is firmly in charge throughout but the overall whisky remained balanced smooth. Smoke lingers into the finish along with some caramel notes. Not deep or complex but good.
