This expression was being poured at my favorite whisky bar; Reserve 101 in Houston on May 24th 2012 to celebrate Ardbeg's first experiment in space. As well as pouring this dram they parked a 20 ft Ardbeg rocket pulled by a tow truck outside the bar. These notes were based on quite a small pouring.... I will definately need to go back and try it again. According the bottle this is less peaty than the standard Ardbeg 10 year old with notes of "vanilla, fudge, cloves and chocolate". The nose has lots of smoke, salt and seaweed, smoked salmon even, immediately taking me back to Islay. The taste is sweet with biscuits, vanilla and then some spices, mainly mint and cloves. The smoke comes back in the very long finish and I did get some of the fudge notes described on the bottle in the finish but more like scottish tablet (a very sugary fudge).
