It is becoming a real cliche now to say how great Forty Creek is. I take some solace from the fact I was saying this on this blog - look it up if you don't believe me - in 2011. I tried this expression at the excellent Reserve 101 bar in Houston in early 2014. The nose has vanilla cream and caramel. A dessert nose. The taste has toffee, apple caramel and toasted nuts. Soft and creamy and then a finish with some sharper citrus and charred oak in the finish. Not Forty Creek's best work, but that is very high bar indeed. I resolve 2014 will be the year I make it to Canada and to Forty Creek....
