This is not for retail but was poured for any interested Guardians of Glenlivet at WhiskyLive London 2103 at the “ready to go into cask” strength of 63.5% ABV. The nose has the spirit notes you would expect plus warm malty “banana bread” as suggested by Ian Logan of The Glenlivet. I definitely got grain and I certainly got banana but for me it was not quite integrated enough to be “banana bread”. The taste is surprisingly smooth and drinkable for new make. I am not saying it is enjoyable, but you can drink it. Some fruit notes were detectable behind the bite of alcohol. In the finish, the hot grainy spirit notes return.
