I was getting a bit worried about where I would find this one to complete my, admittedly self-inflicted, 101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die challenge. I didn’t need to worry…. they were pouring it at WhiskyLive London in 2013. The nose was sweet and floral, marshmallow perhaps. The 4 years it spent in bourbon casks is clearly evident. The taste is light and clean, oak pushes through early but caramel and vanilla are still evident, as well as some more unfamiliar notes on the edge, hiding behind the bite of oak. The finish has spice and strong oak influence. Certainly an oak led expression and not really my thing but probably a nice first whisky of the day.
