Johnnie Walker The Spice Road

This is the first in a series of three called the Explorer's Club Collection.   The nose is rich and malty with some honey, vanilla, nuts and a little smoke.  The taste is very nice, smooth with more vanilla and ripe banana sweetness.  The spice comes through as well, cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg.  Very exotic flavors and some clever blending.  The finish is not long and only right at the end did I get more oak and smokeiness.  Not massively complex but hey it costs less than $40 and overall very interesting.   I like the subtlety and restraint that Johnnie Walker have shown here (unlike how I find JW Black).  I have to say I was quite ready to not like this one but was happy to be proved wrong.  Will have to look for others in this series now.
