An interesting Speyside from a great little distillery well worth visiting (see Distillery Reviews). Interestingly Benromach use a higher peat level than most other Speyside distilleries at 12ppm phenol and this expression comes from vatting of 80% bourbon casks and 20% sherry casks. The nose on this expression is malty sweet, with banana and vanilla, combining to give a impression of freash baked banana bread. The taste has fresh green apple, dried fruits and some pepper and smoke in the finish, overall a very nice "all rounder" with boubon, sherry and peat all in evidence.
